I am a scholar of the
ebbing dictionary
that I threw on the path where you
kick up dust

and there's a human shaped bird
on the ground
on the path
by the grass
by the trees
hear the sound
of the words.
Here she is,
bent to see
with her eyes
warm and wet
choking breathes
looking over the men i have slain/
cain on the ground, next to abel
with their hands entwined
as the voice fades outta their mind
but echos and echos off me

yeah, i shot the gun at those dogs;
made them run round the track like a watch
who's time has come.
what you want you can get from me
and the miles i walked to look in the mirror at me/
men on the ground with their hands
soaked in the blood of the dirt on the land
they are the ones with raised voices who said,
"the environment evolved and grew legs to walk away
from the environment" and that "plants have evolved into
cities and pavement"

and they were WRONG so i shot them down
ran on foot to the nearest town
never slept, spitting coffee grounds
as a trail that would lead back to
me as i slept on the train
and the circles and circles we take
going around and around and around and around
getting dizzy, and falling flat on our face/
face down in the dirt
tell me, have you seen the beauty on earth?
nature cradles her womb before birth
and to think that it seems some don't know what it's worth

now i have become claustrophobic
inside my own soapbox
and i wished there was something to say
to whisk the both of us away
