In the local phone book was three full pages long and in it
Mom and Pop were listed between Mario's and Salvatore's
With customers enough for every pizza joint in town

But little towns with simple charms eventually get bigger
As hordes of urban fugitives come staking out their share
The world's largest pizza chain found Podunk quite desirable
And opened up their fast-food pizza there

They took a full-page color ad right in the yellow pages
No one had ever done THAT before and Podunk was all buzzing
To the point where curiosity did overcome their loyalties
And the pizza-eating public flocked through Corporate Pizza's doors

Fall down, all in a row
Tip the first and watch them go
One by one they all fall down

Mom and Pop would not be squeezed, their immigrant mentalities
Had taught them how to weather storms and stay alive when times were tough
Though Corporate Pizza took a jumbo bite out of their business
They just put a little sign up in the window of their store

Soon the folks were flocking back with crumpled papers in their hands
They'd torn 'em out of every single phone book there in town
Full page ads from Corporate Pizza ripped right out of bindings
You couldn't find that ad in any book for miles around

'Cause Mom and Pop were offering a deal on their pizzas
It was "Two for One" with every special coupon that you brought in
And that coupon, well you probably guessed, was someone's full-page phone book ad
You couldn't trade it in unless you tore the whole thing out
