We raise an eyebrow but we don't frown

Even here some people live in cardboard boxes

Think it's silly that they occupy the sidewalks

I'll be coming home for christmas
I pray the city stands its ground
I hope there's room in there for everyone
And that my family is still around

I hear they're burning bridges now

They're building stacks of tires
Making quite respectable fires
Every exit lost in smoke

But me I left in time so I still have myself
I took my chances, made my choices
I placed myself in the winning track when life was slipping from the pores

When I left people were freezing
They had no no place to call their own
Staying tempered with alcohol
And sweaters that somebody'd outgrown

"But they put themselves there

Santa only sides with those who have been nice
